What is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialty dental practice dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of disease, injuries and defects of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and facial structures.
Our practice provides a broad range of surgical services. This includes extraction of teeth, treatment of impacted teeth, removal of cysts and tumors, treatment of infection, surgical endodontics, correction of jaw deformities (orthognathic surgery), diagnosis and surgical treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders, dental implants and cosmetic surgery.
Where will my surgery be done?
Most of our surgery is done in the office under local anesthesia or with intravenous anesthesia. Pediatric oral surgery is usually done with nitrous oxide analgesia and local anesthesia. Some of our surgery is done in the hospital either as an outpatient or inpatient. We operate at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Hospital arrangements are made through our business office staff and coordinated with the selected hospital.
