Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion
Connecticut Valley Oral Surgery Associates serving Greenfield, Amherst, Northampton, Brattleboro, & Keene
Microdermabrasion mechanically removes dead stratum corneum cells (the outermost layer of the epidermis) with a small applicator tip coated in diamond crystals. It helps renew skin by speeding up the skin-regeneration process, unclogging pores, and refining skin’s texture. It also prepares skin for the application of skin care products, which helps improve their effectiveness. Diamond crystals are known for their polishing properties. When sprayed onto the skin, these crystals loosen and remove dead cells and unclog pores. The cleansing action stimulates new cell growth and the production of collagen and elastin. This technique is very gentle and safe, and should not be confused with more abrasive aluminum oxide (also called corundum) crystals. There are no side effects, however, occasional slight localized redness of the treated area may occur.
